"Broadway Vampire" a novel Uke Jackson 9780965128773 Books Reviews

Broadway Vampire is a story of the theater, music , murder love and immortality. Uke Jackson weaves a tale that you just can't put down.I found myself living the adventure along with the storyteller. the end was an unexpected surprise. I highly recommend this book.
I loved the book! A fast read and interesting history of Broadway theater. I am not a vampire person but Gus is my kind of vampire!!!!
I just finished reading Broadway Vampires today and wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it. I have read hundreds of vampire books and I must say it was totally unique and thoroughly enjoyable. I was fascinated with the theatre aspect of the novel, as I have never read anything about Broadway before, your vampire was probably one of the most vicious I have encountered. Anyway, Im not very good at reviewing books, all I can say is that I really enjoyed it.
This book was a pleasant surprise, a mix of Broadway history and an inventive twist on the traditional vampire lore. It was a great read, fast paced like James Patterson, but with enough substance and interesting, colorful characters to keep me reading long past bedtime!! It was also fun to have real-life people mentioned in the book, as well as real places with which I'm familiar. No book since Interview with a Vampire has made me wonder more about their existence!! A great first novel, hopefully there will be more to follow!
Not at all a vampire story fan, but found this book very creative. Right from the beginning I was entertained by the point of view the author took to tell his story. This is an easy read, mainly because you don't want to put it down. It was great to read about real life people and places that I am familiar with, made the story seem that much more alive Interesting twists and turns throughout the pages as the author weaves his tale with such high energy creativity it takes the scare out of vampires and puts them on the higher side of being pretty cool. Nice work Mr. Jackson, hope your creative juices are flowing freely as I look forward to another good read from you soon.
I would recommend this book to everyone, you'll be pleasantly entertained.
Broadway Vampire is what would happen if Hemingway decided to write a book that was equal parts a history of vaudeville, a firm kick in the goolies of modern pretensions to culture and an existential study of immortal morality all wrapped around the framing device of a millenia old bloodsucker who is producing his swansong play and will do anything to make it a success. Needless to say, there are a lot of bodies and nobody is whom they pretend to be.
Broadway Vampire book is a fun read. There are very few 'rouge angles of satin' moments, the description of everything not plot-essential is bare-bones. This is a character driven book, ladies and gents. Action is clearly Uke Jackson's currency and he spends it well. Now for characters
The protagonist, Gus, is a fascinating character in part because despite his ultimate protestations to the contrary he has picked up some very humanistic traits and affectations (a fondness for clams, a particular brand of champagne etc). This serves to make it easier to empathize with Gus (he has some truly beautiful moments of internal snark) and somehow alien. 'Broadway Vampire' might have the murder-mystery veil, but what I took away from it was Gus's gradual change as a character in unexpected and entertaining ways.
Not that the story lacks for other interesting characters. There are the standard gumshoes, old flames, prima-donnas, detectives and Nietzche-spouting uber-vampires but it is a credit to the author that of all these his protagonist remains the most consistently entertaining character.
If you enjoy books that defy easy categorization, that can be read in less than an afternoon and won't let you stop reading I'm sure Uke Jackson's 'Broadway Vampire' will be right up your street.
My only negative reaction to this book was that is was too short. On the flip side, I am Hopeful that there will be sequels.

Well written, nicely paced and interwoven with real life, assuming Vampires aren't actually real...

Thanks, Uke!
